Two ways to work with us

Build

We take on software projects. A working prototype of your own workflow in weeks, then a production system that is documented, accessible, and yours to keep.

Consult

We advise universities and businesses on methods for developing software that fits. Your people learn to go from idea to plan to working prototype, and to commission software with confidence.

How we work

Listen, trace, tune, echo.

Every engagement follows the same four movements, whether we are building the system or teaching your team to build it.

Listen

Learn how the work actually happens. We start from your real structure, your catalog, your departments, your workflow, and invent only the sensitive particulars.

Trace

Write the plan as the record. Goals, assumptions, open questions, and a decision log live in a plain file that everyone can read.

Tune

Build demo-first. Seeded data, one-click role switching, and a ten-minute walkthrough for the decision-maker, then adjust against real use.

Echo

Ship a system that reflects the mission. Every figure shows its arithmetic, every page meets accessibility standards, and the code stays open.

House style

Working examples

Prototypes that show the institution to itself.

Working demonstrations in higher education, publishing, and research are being prepared for public release. Each will be a live system with seeded demo data, role switching, and a scripted ten-minute walkthrough.

Coming soon

Public demos are on the way. In the meantime, ask for a walkthrough and we will show you a working system for a setting like yours.

About

Our systems can be for us by us.

Tuned Echo Systems is led by Matt Crump, a cognitive psychologist who studies memory, learning, and skilled performance. He is a professor and chair of Psychology at Brooklyn College, CUNY, and has built open software for academic work since 2012: R packages, open textbooks, web-based experiments, and department tools.

He runs an academic department, so he knows the problems of budgets, assessment, personnel review, and accreditation from the inside rather than as a vendor. Tuned Echo builds with AI coding tools under human direction, which is why prototypes arrive in weeks rather than months, and it teaches that method to clients.
